To expand upon that which was briefly mentioned in a previous post; trip to India is off :( Yes, due to a whole bunch of red tape nonsense MM cannot get a visa before we leave because his passport is only valid for 4 months after we return rather than 6 months. Why on earth he needs 6 months validity for a 2 week trip is beyond me, but there you go. So now Goa and India and all things exciting have been postponed until September 20th. Aaaargh!!
Well, we couldn't very well doing nothing instead of trotting all over the world, so we are now heading to Cairns instead. It will neccessarily be a very tight trip $$ wise, but luckily all we really need is just a couple of weeks without circumstantial crap getting in way of spending time with each other. I'm getting excited about it, I am. Ijust have ten thousand words worth of essays to be writing before I leave in 10 days. EEkk. But, surprising myself, I did sit down yesterday at uni and write an entire essay. Obviously it's just the first draft, but the fact that all those words are out and on the page and just need toggling is very encouraging. It's fun to get things done quickly - all my classmates haven't even started writing it yet! I'll be rubbing that in alright ;)

India off
:( Yes, my trip to India has been postponed again. Man, when we finally get there it had better be the best holiday ever! This time we were all organised, had our vaccinations (at a cost of around $400), had our flights paid for, had excitement building, I had my visa... but MM can't get his. Gaaaaagh! So annoying. Apparently you need at least 6 months validity on your passport before they'll issue the visa, MM's passport runs out in less than 6 months. He can't get a new one issued before we go because he is a British

Visit from afar
I had some mates over from Japan! They were only here for one weekend, but we had a good time. They were a bit tired I think, but I forced them around Adelaide :) We went to Gorge Wildlife Park and held a koala and touched a snake. We wandered around the Central Markets and had brekky there. We walked through North Adelaide while I was getting more vaccinations for India (although they are now unneccessay: more on that saga later). We went out to the Red Ochre for dinner and ate kangaroo and emu, we went to Glenelg and had a lovely warm dip in the early evening. The following day we had a nice long lie in before heading into town to wander through the art gallary and down Rundle Mall. They flew back to Melbourne at about 2:30 and that was that! Very jam packed. Here are some pics:

New Hair
Last week sometime, or the week before maybe... Not sure when exactly, but at some point recently I cut my hair. It was Shave for a Cure Day and I wandered past a tent set up in Rundle Mall and thought, "Why not?" I don't think it looks too bad at all. And now I can get ready even faster in the mornings!! Honestly I am just loving it, no shampoo, no hair products, no hair dryer or straightener, it's just easy. Although now the weather's getting a bit colder I am realising I will need to get a few more beanies :)

3 day weekend
A long long weekend is over and I'm back to uni without having done half as much work as I should have again... ohno. I did do most of it... I started feeling ill on Friday night and by Saturday it was cleat that I had a cold. It's terrible being sick in the hot weather, I couldn't even go to the pool! My runny nose did not, however, prevent me from attending the Friday night 70s Disco Bowls night at Woodville Bowl. It was a great night with heaps of people dressed up and looking funky. The team I coached this season even gave me a little present! How lovely. I did pretty badly at bowling, I think I came way last both games and ended up putting the ball on the ground and just pushing it off down the alley in the end. It wasn't a very late one, nor a drunken one for me, but it was for several others I think!
Saturday night was a games night at a friend's house. We played "Settlers of Catan", a German board game that took about 5 hours to set up and explain. Once we got into it it was OK, but in the beginning it was all a bit confusing and there were a few frustrating moments. As is usual with these events we had massively overcatered and I managed to eat too much again. I brought vegie hotdogs cos I had a craving and the host had made a gargatuan pasta salad, plus dessert to follow. It was a good night, but I was a bit on the quiet side due to feeling less than 100%. Sunday I moped around being sick for most of the day, did a little uni work and watched TV. Yesterday was similar but I was feeling a bit better so managed to do some cleaning up and more work and even visited the pool!
My friend from Japan is visiting next weekend so I have to come up with a thousand and one things to show them while they're here. I have an appointment at the vaccination clinic again so I guess that's one thing they'll be seeing...

Do-do-do-do-do
I'm going to a 70s Disco Bowling event tonight! How much fun is it to get dressed up! I'll be wearing a pretty snazzy gold sequin boob tube with gorgeous green satin flares, it's a pretty cool combo. I even lashed out (no pun intended) and grabbed some stick on gold eyelashes to complete the look! My only problem is what to do with the hair... It's not really long enough to do anything totally disco, but I'll have a crack at the Farrah Faucet (sp?) locks. Funky! I actually really dislike bowling, but hopefully there'll be enough other stuff going on to distract...

two pricks
Back at work again, but it's hardly as bothersome when you're only working half days! Uni starts again this week so I am back on to mornings at work and afternoons stressing about uni stuff. Just in time to soak up the last bit of summer's rays as well, it's gonna be pretty hot this week :) I did get a bit of splash time in on theweekend though, went to the pool on Saturday arvo after revceiving a couple of vaccinations, ouch! I got two needles which cover me for about 7 diseases in total I think. I like the efficiency of that :) It was fine at the time, just a little prick, but about 4 hours later my arm was killing me. I started to feel a bit feverish as well. Sunday I woke up feeling pretty raggedy and ended up sleeping for most of the day! I'd get up for a couple of hours, then just go back to sleep for another couple. Finally at 4pm I was feeling well enough to get up and about, just in time to see the touch GF.
Anyway, better get my disease-proof self back to work...
