Had a bit of a tops weekend really. Saturday I spent the morning at the markets, shopping and poking around. I met up with dad for lunch at a Chinese place on Gouger. Ordered way too much food of course and had to get a doggy bag (have consumed leftovers for lunch today). I spent the arvo lying around by the pool, my relaxation only interrupted by something smaller than my eye could see biting me on my leg and finger. It felt like an ant bite, but I couldn't see any ants around at all, but it was more painful than that too. Weird. Anyway, didn't stop me from doing some cooking on Saturday evening and I made a potato and apple bake. Bit of an odd combination, I thought, but it turned out really well.
Sunday MM came round with his Vespa and we took it to the Italian Motorcycle Show in Rundle Park. Entered it in the Scooter section (of course) and headed off for an awful breakfast at Cafe Piatto. By awful I mean it took forever to come out (even a simple bottle of OJ took 15 mins to make it to the table), and when it did, it was cold with some daggy piece of toast and a mountain of mushrooms. Even if you LIKE mushrooms you are surely not going to eat more than a few? The plate was majority mushroom. Ick. Anyway, we wandered back down to the show, ran into dad, looked at some more Ducatis and related bikes before heading to the flicks to see Lust, Caution. I had been warned that the reviews had been mixed with those who disliked it calling it 'slow' and those who liked it calling it 'languid'. Hmm. Two and a half hours later with a very numb butt I decided that I was in the 'slow' catergory. Although it was interesting to see a Chinese representation of the Japanese occupation, never really seen much of that (probably owing to the fact that I don't see many Chinese films!). But I did get to scoff heaps of Jaffas though, so the time wasn't completely wasted. And to be honest, my obvious impatience with the crawling pace of the film did amuse my companion endlessly, so another plus.
After a beer at the Austral and another failed attempt at a shopping expedition and we were back at the Bike Show where MM's scooter had won first prize! Hehee!
