I may have a job! Yesterday arvo I went into a cafe on Pultney St and ended up with a trial shift for this evening. It's a pretty large cafe and seems like it may be quite busy which is good. The bloke said he can offer me "a hundred hours a week" if I want. Yeah, definitely wanna get some money under my belt. Clearly I'm hardly excited at the prospect of waiting tables again, but it is good money in the meantime.
Last night I went out for a meal at this Chinese restaurant in Gouger St. On the Chaser War on Everything they had a few minutes dedicated to bitching about waiters at cafes and restaurants who try and take your glass away before you've finished your drink. One of the blokes went out as a waiter and started taking people's drinks to see what reaction he would get. Obviously it ended quite badly with some bloke tipping the beer on him - but it happened to us last night. Bottle of red still on the table with red in it and our glasses were taken away! Thankfully we managed to retain one glass and polished off the red with that, but it's all a bit cheeky. The food was quite lovely though, I had salt & pepper eggplant, bit of rice. It's the kind of place where you really should just order a variety of dishes for the whole table to share though cos we all did end up with a whole plateof eggplant, or pork, or chicken each. Aussies are heaps precious about their food though, obviously it's not in our tradition to share plates and all that, but surely we can acknowledge that it's a good idea? Lots of people seem to have food envy, wanting what someone else has ordered anyway, why not share it all around?

harrah for the job!!
am happy for you chickie :-)
My family had a tradition that when ever we went out to chinese we would order a main meal each and share them amoungst us. It is a good way to taste different things. Oh each one had to be a different sort of meat. But with 5 of us there was always some overlap.
